The Beauty Accelerator™: In Conversation with Fussy – pt. 3

We conclude our three-part interview with Fussy this week by asking Matt and Eddie about the brand’s next steps and the advice they have for those seeking to apply to The Beauty Accelerator™ 2021.

Who was the scariest dragon? The red tree team or sfc capital?

Luckily no one was too frightening, but we’d been doing our background research on both Stephen Page and Stirling Murray, they are the real deal, so we were certainly feeling the pressure on their questioning.

What was your reaction on winning the beauty accelerator?

I screamed so erratically that my wife locked herself in the bathroom as she thought I was fighting an intruder, she later learnt I was on the phone to Eddie telling him the good news.

What happens next for fussy?

Now we need to help save the world, one armpit at a time, we know that with SFC and The Red Tree behind us, we’re on track to do exactly that.

What have you learnt during the process?

Iron out every single aspect of your business, also it’s okay to identify where your weak areas are, as long as you have ideas of how you will overcome them.

What advice would you give to brands interested in applying for the beauty accelerator in 2021?

Make sure you have a clear vision of how your brand breaks the category norms. If you have this, alongside the ability to implement your vision, the game is on!

On a more practical note. It will help if it isn’t your first pitch or if it is just think of as many questions that might come up. And what we would do if we were you…contact the previous winners and grill them!
