How to Create a Social Media Strategy for Beauty Brands

A beauty brand’s social media strategy should form part of a marketing strategy which aligns with overarching objectives of the business plan.

Digital marketing agencies all take slightly different approaches. We have outlined here some key features every social media strategy should contain.

If your brand is already established, take a step back and complete an audit on your current strategy. Does it align with your Symbolic Brand Value? Are the messages you are trying to communicate clear and concise? How effective is your content at encouraging engagement? Evaluate your competitors, what are their strengths and weaknesses? Has your target market changed? Should you now shift your efforts to a new audience?

Start-ups should begin by deciding and setting up your brand on the platforms you need to be posting on – where are your customers and where should your brand be seen? The next stage is to start looking at your visual assets.

A content-rich strategy will help support your brand’s value creation. Using your distinct brand personality to demonstrate your aesthetic, brand voice and visual identity. This should be demonstrated through useful and informative content, relevant to your target audience. This could be in the form of UGC (User Generated Content), product reviews, tutorials/how-to’s and Q&As. Layered on top of this should be your engagement strategy. This is comprised of share-worthy content, campaigns, testimonials and your everyday community management (liking, commenting, replying, etc)

The above is guided by your content pillars. These are the corner stones of your brand and will consist of 3-5 headlines which your brand will discuss and create content around. Once you have defined these pillars, you can plan your social media content calendar and create content which fits into these topics and post every week/month depending on your strategy. Using a tool such as Later.com to plan, schedule, analyse and optimise your content across multiple platforms, which can help save time and help grow your business.
